privacy

Privacy, a much lacking luxury in today's world.
People, so lonely, without any confidante fall into the trap of facebook's "What's on your mind?"
because, frankly speaking, nobody wants to know what's on your mind. They just want to data-mine you, and sell you useless stuff at a high price, which you will throw out when you clean your house when you get time.
Businesses and people have become ruthless. If they aren't extorting money from you, they consider you worthless and treat you with contempt.
It is pointless to truly invest yourself in relationships where people don't actively improve themselves.Fellowship has become a rare thing.
I guess long working hours and ill health are to blame.Today, people think that a workout and diet can fix anything, or money can fix anything. It truly can't.
One of the draining spirits of this generation is the abundance of social media.Unfortunately, people use it to stalk or profile colleagues/friends to misuse them and get a competitive advantage over them.
Another one is quora. People who were seeing you everyday and didn't care for you, suddenly follow you on quora to extract some knowledge from you or make fun of you in their spare time. These just leech your energy and attract the attention of empty people.Deleting them gave me more time for real stuff.

True treasure

God is a true gentleman. He doesn't show off his good deeds. He doesn't come if you don't want Him. And only a select few stick around to learn true wisdom and knowledge from Him.
Faith must be kept private in today's world.
It is amazing how in today's world, people stubbornly pursue material physical things with the promise of happiness and yet, they don't find it. I did not get those things, but I was after divine health.
I threw myself into weight training, cardio and dieting, thinking that it was my answer.I was unhappy, miserable and it didn't improve my health.
I immersed myself in the study of the Bible and other prayers. I found an unexpected treasure.Of course, our churches don't teach any of the fun stuff, but it becomes clear with the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit.I told a couple of friends, but I could feel their unbelief and misery was strong.

As human beings, we love to complicate simple things.Jesus was clear and simple in his teaching, yet so effective. He went through some horrific things, yet people brush it off as "easy, because He is the Son of God". No, it wasn't easy. He was being a perfect example of what we must be.
God wants people after his own heart, not people who make a last ditch effort to get into heaven.A pure, contrite heart is what is the need of today.

Levulose Sweetener

Look at the way people scam the public.

https://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjE3Lbj2dzWAhXJPo8KHcLZB-IQFggnMAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.medindia.net%2Fnews%2Finterviews%2Fdiwalis-sweet-dezire-interview-76179-1.htm&usg=AOvVaw3ZVA1tHuQdg9mMkQr1n8HR

A simple Google search reveals that levulose is another name for fructose. The calories in Fructose per 9g(1tbsp) is 33 calories. Fructose is calculated to be 368Cal per 100 grams making 80Cal equivalent to 21.74g with 8.99g of mostly carbohydrates、0g of fat、0g of protein in 9g while being rich in vitamins and minerals such as

What is the impact of levulose on blood sugar levels ? what are the implications for calorie management?

levulose is being projected as a natural sugar substitute and promoted by certain sweet manufacturers. the question is is it safe for diabetics ?

Answer:
Not safe. It has the same impact as table sugar... 4 calories per gram. Levulose is, in fact, simply another name for fructose.... a monosaccharide (sugar).

The answer below is misleading. Look it up yourself:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fructose

Levulose (fructose) and glucose are what make up table sugar (sucrose). Levulose is favored by many over sucrose because it has a lower glycemic index (takes longer to raise your blood sugar) because it is metabolized (converted) by the liver. But it STILL raises blood sugar.... therefore, it's NOT safe for diabetics. As with all foods, prudence must be exercised.

If you want details, there's plenty available: "The products of fructose metabolism in the glycolytic pathway of the liver are GLUCOSE, GLYCOGEN (which is later converted to glucose), lactate, and pyruvate."
http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/76/...

So, while suresh k is correct in that fructose doesn't require insulin "for its metabolism" initially, it is converted into glucose and glycogen which most certainly will need insulin in order to be utilized by the body's cells. He's also dead wrong implying that there are fewer calories in fructose.... calories are the same for ALL sugars.... 4 calories per gram.

I'm not trying to make an example out of this sadly misinformed fellow, just want to get people to do their own research on

such an important issue as sugar consumption in diabetics. It's vital that you research it yourself and not trust answers you read here.

I collected this information from yahoo answers while checking out this brand called Dezire Sweetener. They also have put their agents on quora to promote their product.

Now, as per the first link mentioned in this article, a study was conducted on 30 diabetes patients with rasgulla sweetened with dezire.
We already know that rasgulla is made of chenna (soft paneer) which has negligible effect on blood sugar. So obviously, there won't be much implications on blood sugar levels.

But this company is selling other sweets like laddus and jahangir which is made of suji, flour, etc which definitely will cause a rise in blood sugar.

Learn how to count calories and carbohydrates!

This is Viola signing off!
Cheers!

Repetition creates faith

My forray into the modus operandi of miraculous healing has begun.Although I was interested in it, I wasn't ready to put in the work. I tried to be perfect in only my physical body. I failed.
When you do all you can to achieve maximal wellness and hit an invisible wall, you just know that it isn't your body that's the problem.
Factors leading me to study this subject are:
Atheists making fun of Christians.
Christians making fun of Christians.
Analysis of people who've received miraculous healing.
Past failures to receive healing.
Analysis of a change in society.
Analysis of ancestors and what they died from.
Supernatural attacks on my life at various ages.

The few people I spoke to on this subject ( Indians), either vehemently refute that such a thing exists or they narrate their bad experiences at the hands of certain relatives.I am not alone.

With the introduction of novels and movies on Harry Potter, the interest in the supernatural and witchcraft has increased dramatically over the past few years. It is a well-written series no-doubt. I am not advocating boycott of such books or movies either.

There is a page on facebook which shares videos of people speaking in tongues and healing people. On googling, i discovered that that guy was dead. I wasn't able to research much about him.

People aren't aware of Satanists pretending to have healing powers. Evil people do human sacrifices and other disgusting things to get this power. Of course, Satan is a liar, so if he gives you something, in return he claims your soul for eternal damnation. Nothing pleases him more than your suffering.

It is well known and documented by various medical professionals that some people have been possessed and controlled by demons, and have lost their minds from continuous exposure to horror films. They eventually contact a Catholic excorcist as a last resort.
By the way, that 'Blue Whale' game responsible for causing adolescent suicides , one of the levels of the game involved watching several horror movies back to back.

Every song, movie and dance carries a message and thus a spirit.People don't take it seriously till someone is dead or possessed.
Today, chronic illness is ACCEPTED instead of dealt with.
Jesus heals. You don't have to suffer day after day.
Since most people will question my sanity.I am documenting my breakthroughs from prayer and partial fasts.

Most books on healing I've read weren't satisfactory to me.I wanted to know the modus operandi of healing. No one mentioned the practical steps to achieve it.I will.

Getting attacked and cribbing about it is not smart. Spiritual warfare is the answer.
I found a pdf while searching for "how people curse a person with diabetes".
Best thing I ever found.

It isn't as hard as lifting weights and dieting.
I have noticed reversal of sickness in me.
Currently i tell a few Christians, but the unbelief is real.

Peace out!

Things nobody tells you

  1. Set boundaries. In your relationships at work, school, office, grocery store, neighbours.
  2. Doctors don't always recommend the right stuff for you.
  3. Most gym goers are more injured than a person who never worked out.
  4. To get the first rank in college, a bribe is given.
  5. Invest in apartments to get income from rent, because there is no job security.
  6. You have to jump your job every year because your hard work will never be recognised.
  7. Companies like to reduce the salaries of all employees, then fool them by spending on "company outings".
  8. Employees are unreliable cheats (if youre an entrepreneur. Our newspaper man was cheated by his employee).
  9. Since employees in mncs are paid very less, they lose morale in putting in their best.Add to this inadequate sleep and high bills.
  10. You will not always have your health, energy and good looks.Look for alternate sources of income beforehand.
  11. Everything in life is rigged. From class rank to scholarships to cricket matches to CEO positions.
  12. Companies always look for a younger version of you with same skill sets.Don't reveal your tricks of the trade to a younger person. They will replace you. If you are a sole breadwinner, God help you.
  13. The reason why businesses are surviving despite inflation is tax evasion and bribing income tax officials. (If you are considering the thought of doing an MBA,please don't. Save your money.)
  14. The fitness industry, politics and movie industry come under the unorganised sector in India. There are no regulations for all of them.Hence why so many people are scammed left, right and centre.
  15. Presence of cartels in fitness industry, education industry make it hard to make a name for yourself.
  16. People in America as well as India are working 12 hour shifts and not making much.
  17. Work of any sort is not respected here.
  18. If you wash your own car,it is looked down upon.
  19. Vegetarianism is the most respected hypocritical shithole religion in india. Our celebs pretend to be it.Kareena kapoor and rujuta diwekar run the whole facade. Some o the most hate filled people I've received hate mail from, are vegetarians.
  20. The most messed up people call themselves "Life coaches".
  21. Studying a post graduate degree is of no use.Its a waste of money.
  22. The life of a personal trainer is very hard.People expect you to be muscular fast. This translates to steroid use. Once you're old,you dont get hired.
  23. Teaching is one of the best stable professions with lesser stress than corporate jobs. You need influence to land that job as well.
  24. Marriage is a giant ass business agreement.Nobody loves anyone there.
  25. Christians are considered non Indians and mistreated and no one gives a shit because they're not Indian.
  26. NRIs are treated as pariahs.
  27. There are scamsters in every religion. There have been so many killed in bloodshed in the name of religion. If people just prayed in their homes and respected others, things would be a lot better.Instead, people prefer to act on their prejudices and biases.
  28. There are consequences for everything you do. People who run liquor shops often end up having their families split up and no heirs.Think about it. Their clients go home and beat their spouses and children and do what all shit and scar them for life. Celebrities like Charlie sheen, george michael, Bill clinton are dying/dead from AIDs. People who abandon their parents in old age homes and never visit after being taken care of all their lives usually end up there. Look around you and open your eyes.
  29. Every college promises you cutting edge education and placement. Every personal trainer promises you your dream body. Every company promises you awesome work conditions and job security. Every guy/girl promises to be with you and stick by you. What is the common denominator in all these situations? You are given shit.
  30. Most people don't bother to find out the horrendous realities of pregnancy and childbirth, the complications of it and how non supportive inlaws and family can drive you insane. Please read and stop contributing to the 50% divorce rate. Most people have no idea of what they want. Oh wait. Men want a post graduate who becomes a maid. Women want protection and love. Both don't get it.
  31. People can be plump and healthy or lean and bitchy. There is no in between.
  32. There is a category of men who insist on dating lean women and complain that they're bitchy. :D Lack of awareness. Nothing else.
  33. Smooth talkers got smooth by talking.
  34. People who comment "cook for me" are the worst.

Food Preparation -What I've learnt

When it comes to food preparation, I've learned a couple of things over the past few years.

  1. Fresh ingredients and whole unprocessed food is the tastiest.
  2. You have to know what spices and herbs you like to make your meals taste fabulous.
  3. Freshly made ginger garlic paste is the key to tasty dishes, whether it is biryani, paneer butter masala or tandoori chicken.
  4. Jain food (food cooked without garlic and onion) comes in handy when you don't want your mouth to smell of onion or garlic. Granted, most of them add oodles of oil and sugar to everything, but you can change that.
  5. Vegetables with low moisture are great to pack in tiffin boxes. Examples include capsicum, carrots, onions, raw cabbage.
  6. High moisture vegetables are best eaten at home.(Cucumber, tomato, spinach, mushroom)(They rot when packed).
  7. Things like khakhra, roasted peanuts, roasted channa dal, rusk, apples and biscuits are great things to carry with you when you work in a BPO job with ever changing food breaks (sometimes you're not given a break also!)
  8. Malabar gourd when cooked in dal should never be taken to office. It turns sours and tastes awful.
  9. Master the dishes which your Mom makes so that you can cook it when you crave it.It is good to learn and be self sufficient. No one lives forever. It also saves money.
  10. Pasta, white rice and biryani once cooked perishes fast, so cook the desired quantity so that nothing goes waste. We have frequent powercuts in India so cooking in bulk is plain stupid.
  11. Prepare a dessert on Friday so that its ready to eat post workout on the weekend.(or whichever is your day off)
  12. Whatever is crunchy is a combination of carbohydrate+fat and/or sugar. eg: cookies, puffs, jalebi, vada, chocolate
  13. Whatever is fluffy is very high in sugar.eg: bread, cake
  14. Modern day bakeries use hydrogenated fat and soya cream in their goods making them ideal for screwing up your hormones and they don't even taste good and leave a film on your tongue.
  15. It is never a good idea to pack boiled eggs as a tiffin item. It smells and tastes awful. Fry them in oil or butter if taken to office.
  16. When you can't fathom what the milk has turned into, because you forgot to bring it in, convert it into Naan. Add a tsp sugar,salt,1/2 tsp yeast, the "milk" and flour. Knead to a smooth dough and set aside for an hour. Then roll and cook on a pan. No wastage, and everyone loves naan.
  17. Take advantage of discounts on vegetables at Big bazaar, foodworld and reliance fresh.
  18. Use up items like dal, chickpeas, moth beans, rajma, maida quickly as veevils tend to appear.
  19. Always learn new cuisines to keep food interesting. Not only will your nutrition be great, you'll have a greater drive to exercise.

I will update this if I recall more. :)

Aging and its effects

In Indian fitness groups on facebook, predominantly frequented by men, there is often a complaint heard that Indian chicks don't lift. I regret to say that, once I also held the same beliefs.

Once I entered the corporate world, and was subjected to its pressures, I spiralled into ill health.
Its not just the laddoos, cakes and late night popcorn that colleagues force on you.
Some days are just more hectic and you do burn more calories. Eating more carbohydrates would have been the best solution. But when you have paid a self proclaimed transformation specialist who doesn't give a fuck about your nutrient timing and ever changing shifts, you are bound to fail.

We are conditioned to believe that we should never miss a workout by the media. This may apply to people who like to skip hard work. But when you are not sleeping enough and work for 12 hours, you might get more health problems.

Once i injured my back, knee, shoulder and now my eye, my view on fitness and life has changed considerably.
I used to be the mad person working out for 2-3 hours in my college days. That has all changed.
I changed to working out thrice a week.
Now that I'm scheduled for surgery,I will be unable to workout for a while.

For BPO employees, focussing on getting adequate rest is crucial and next comes meal preparation.
Screw working out. You're better off without it.

Also, as an analytical person who likes market research, I interviewed a couple of colleagues and found that the fit males exercise for 5-6 hours once a week.On the other hand, fit women ate small portions and were active on a day to day basis.

Why?
Males have stronger joints and can bear the stress of working out that long once a week.Women have weaker joints and cannot handle once a week overdoing it.

You will also find in these fitness groups that men make fun of women who practice group exercise classes. They assume that women have the same joint strength as them. There is no hope for such people. Lol!

The classic schedule of an IT employee is tight. From the time the cab driver calls in the morning to the time you catch the cab to reach home, its all a nightmare. And in the midst of this shit, you are expecting yourself to eat and workout like a pro athelete and look like a steroid infused dumb fuck.

Quite often, the average bpo employee cuts out the warm up, cool down and stretching to save time. This often leads to back, knee, shoulder and chest injuries.By the time, they figure that their plan isn't good they have a good number of injuries.

Bear in mind that hiring a young PT won't help you, because they make you do plyometric exercises which will most definitely injure you.Do your research and train yourself.

I believe that the book, "Strong Curves" by Brett Contreras is the most underrated book of the century. In lucid language and easy to implement.

Instagram models before and after pictures

Most of us women look at these accounts online and eat even less and exercise even more and eventually burnout and fail. I suggest you go through these pictures and tell me whether you think these are people who will understand your struggle with body fat.
Sometimes, we require ourselves to unfollow such accounts and do what you know is right: small increments in exercise, changes in diet only when needed, focus on getting enough sleep and protein, taking adequate rest days.

The older you get, the more rest days you might require.
In my early 20's I spend 2-3 hours in the gym 6 days a week.Now,at 28 i workout 3 times a week,for sometimes 45 minutes,other times 30 minutes if my joints hurt.
Listen to your body.

Baking after a long time

Yesterday I attempted a honey oat bread recipe. As usual it turned out good and i ate more than i anticipated. This is partly due to my extreme dieting on 1200 calories.
Reading up on bread improvers on this fine morning makes me chuckle. Most people don't know what's in their bread! lol.
Yesterday I overheard a guy with a paunch tell the cashier about "cardio",in Foodworld.
In a few years he will realise that it is not possible to function normally at work or at home on such extremely low calories. He will either give up entirely or resort to steroids like most people.

Anyway, yesterday i did not fret about not tracking on mfp and actually slept without tracking a single food! This is good for my mental sanity. Maybe not so much for my blood sugar.
The prices of vegetables have been elevated for quite a few months now. Bittergourd at Rs. 60-65!! But i bought some anyway after not buying it 20 times.
Seeing the quantity of bread I have ingested now calls for bittergourd :P

It is interesting to note that the people with the fittest bodies are either extremely young (in college working at a physically demanding job like waitressing or PT or an athelete or construction) or are divorced or probably sick. Then there is another category of instagram models who are typically suffering from an eating disorder or are competitors doing it as a job or are on steroids. We seriously have no business comparing ourselves to them.

I have let myself even starve, going as low as 800 calories to achieve the ideal feminine waist only to get headaches, eye pain, fatigue and decreased neat. But obviously, as you have seen, my posts on facebook weren't appreciated at all! I realised I shouldn't bother when Shivi Joshi had the nerve to make fun of my post on portion size of chapathis.

In the long run, mental sanity and ability to enjoy food without the devil accusing you of eating bad carbs is the goal. Sure, looking like barbie is nice. But lacking the strength to carry grocery bags and run a kitchen is annoying.

I think I now get why older people laugh and shrug when an overenthusiastic youngster extols the virtues of the gym life.
That is a luxury of a person who doesn't have much responsibilities. I'm not making excuses.I've lifted for 7 years, suffered from various injuries, never gave up; but eventually old age catches up and your joints and ligaments don't appreciate the excess stress put on it.
Face it, we lift just 6 kg to 10 kg maximum. Why this idiocy of lifting more than that?

Oh right, trying to gain the acceptance of a lifting community online which you'll never get.
The truth is, you'll never fit in.A lot of people are on steroids. A mere handful admits that.
And its a sad thing that a lot of youth get into the gym for a six pack, because it is not sustainable.

Supplements for stressed out adrenal body type

Holy basil/ tulsi
Ashwaganda
Shatavari
Rhodiola

The Adrenal body type by Dr. Eric Berg

Diet for the adrenal body type:

High protein, high fat, no cruciferous vegetables
High protein is recommended as the body breaks down its tissues a lot due to stress. High fat is recommended as typically the adrenal body type suffers from blood sugar issues and fat keeps them going.
Consume protein earlier in the day and not just before bed.
The adrenals need cholesterol to make hormones.
Cruciferous is not recommended due to bloating.Consume others.
7 cups of vegetables per day.
Fats : nuts ,avocados and cheese, plain yoghurt.

 Exercise:

Walking,stretching and yoga

The 2 types of exercise for belly fat:

High intensity and low intensity.
High intensity includes basketball, interval training, sprinting and hopping.
Low intensity includes walking.
High intensity is anaerobic exercise.
Low intensity is aerobic which uses more oxygen.
Both burn sugar and fat.
After 25 minutes of walking the body starts burning fat in low intensity exercise.
Walking is a great exercise for a beginner and is relaxing.
High intensity exercise is great if you are able to recover from it.
Walking outdoors is a stress reliever,so its great for adrenals.
HIIT burns sugar immediately.14-48 hours after workout fat is burnt during deep sleep/recovery.

How to fix a slow metabolism:
When you go on a diet, you slow your metabolism.
Increases hunger and cravings.
Age slows your metabolism.Exercise increases hunger and boosts cravings. Since losing fat is anti-survival,its unnatural.
How to lower your bodyfat set point?
What destroys the set point?
The pancreas contains the Islets of Langerhans. The beta cells (60%) produce insulin. Insulin regulates blood sugar in the blood.Insulin has other functions. It affects fat metabolism, protein metabolism. It converts sugar into cholesterol, triglycerides, retains sodium, drives amino acids into the cells.
Greater the intake of carbohydrates, greater the storage of excess as glycogen.
This leads to fatty liver.
Uncontrolled blood sugar leads to muscle wastage. This is what destroys diabetics.
Normally the blood sugar range is 80-100 mmol before a meal.It spikes to 120-140 after a meal.
In a diabetic, it rises too high and takes a long time to come down.
Elevated insulin levels for a long time leads to insulin resistance.
Symtoms of insulin resistance:

  • Fatty liver
  • Brain fog
  • High fasting insulin
  • Belly fat
  • bloating
  • sleepy after meals
  • high blood pressure
  • cravings and hunger(certain parts of the body)
  • Dark pigments in certain parts of the body
  • Hunger between meals

Insulin resistance destroys your set point.
What causes insulin resistance?
Sugar
Protein-Some more than others.
Gastrointestinal hormones- every time you eat, you trigger high insulin.
Estrogen increases insulin

Insulin index:
Butter 2%
olive oil 3%
coconut oil 3%
low fat yoghurt 76%
heavy cream is 4%
egg yolk 15%
egg white 55%
whole egg 21%
pecans 5%
bacon 9%
peanut butter 11%
beef 51%
potatoes 121%
baked beans 100%
banana 84%
apple 75%
whole wheat bread 96%

Since the more often you eat,the more you trigger insulin release. Hence aim for 2 to 3 meals a day,no snacks.
Only eat when you're hungry.
Don't eat after dinner.
You can have tea.
Intermittent fasting is great.

Lower insulin:

  1. ACV- a tsp per glass of water.
  2. Fermented foods
  3. High potassium foods-Vegetables. Eat more to flush out fat from the liver.
  4. Vitamin b1-nutritional yeast
  5. Fibre -  Fibre buffers insulin.
  6. Fat- Consume more dietary fat. Its very sustaining between meals.
  7. Lowering cortisol (stress)-Cortisol releases glucose which releases insulin.Doing my adrenal techniques.
  8. Sleeping more
  9. Exercising more
  10. vegetables
Drop 1 size in 1 week guaranteed
5 strategies
  1. Intermittent fasting-Eat less meals. 2 meals a day are great.3-6 ounces protein. Vegetables and fat.No snacks.
  2. Sleep - Most fat burning occurs during sleep. 5-6 hours is too less.Do stretching before bed.
  3. Stress- Stress activates cortisol production.List all stressors and avoid such people.Do not watch the news. Watch a comedy ,read a book,go for walks.
  4. Exercise- HIIT Do it only every 2 days.Walk on other days.
  5. Nutrition- sea kelp activates the thyroid. take them only in the morning. Potassium citrate take 500 mg a day when on a ketogenic diet as you are losing a lot. It relaxes the muscles.Do this only a short term.Eat 7-10 cups vegetables a day.Nutritional yeast loaded with natural b vitamins. Helps with excessive thinking and adrenal issues.

Losing the last 10 pounds:

  1.  Lose the sugar: Includes bread, fruit, juice
  2. Intense exercise- Triggers growth hormone. Works if you can recover.
  3. 8+ hours of sleep- Fat burning occurs during sleep.
  4. 2 meals per day.It keeps insulin low.
  5. No snacking between meals.
  6. Protein 3-6 ounces per meal. Anything more than 35 grams spikes insulin.
  7. 7 to 10 cups vegetables a day so that you meet your potassium requirement. Most important mineral for losing weight. Avoid ones that make you bloated.
7 foods you must never eat
  1. Orange juice
  2. HFCS
  3. Soy protein isolates
  4. Commercial meats with nitrates
  5. Commercial milk- make sure its hormone free-RBST
  6. tv dinners - protein+starch+sugar spikes insulin
  7. fruits from 3rd world countries- usage of DDT messes with your hormones.
Fastest way to lose weight:
Growth hormone is the main fat burning hormone.I.F triggers it.

  • Step1- 3 meals- 3 days. No snacks.
  • Step 2- 2 meals a day.No snacks.
  • Step 3- 1 .5 meals a day. A green shake as the half meal.
  • Repeat.
  • Eating a lot of vegetables, some protein, some fats.
  • no sugar,starches,corn,beans,rice.
